Circle of Strength

‘Circle of Strength’ – a 12 week Support Group for women survivors of incest / childhood sexual abuse - is designed to address the unique recovery needs of women survivors of incest and childhood sexual abuse in a safe and confidential setting.

At RAHI, we believe that for a survivor, being in a group and sharing experiences of childhood sexual abuse with other survivors can be of tremendous value. By making the decision to voice their hopes, struggles and sufferings in the company of others who understand, survivors take an important step forward in their healing. In a group, they find people who believe in them and can begin to identify with others, feel less alone or ‘different’ and receive support, affirmations and authentic feedback from each other.

In this group women explore together the effects of abuse on their lives and honour what they did to survive. By talking, listening and responding to each other, they gain new insights into their problems and find effective ways of coping with the pain and agitation that is linked to earlier life situations of unwanted sexual experiences. Through this process women are able to develop inner strengths, build healthier relationships, feel a greater sense of self and engage with their environment with renewed confidence, mastery and responsibility.

This group is offered to women above the age of 19 who have experienced any form of exploitative sexual behaviour while growing up by an adult or an older or more powerful person.

Guided by experienced facilitators, working methods used are discussions, individualexercises, craft, music, massage, movement and other creative recovery tools. The group is conducted in English and participants are required to attend all the sessions.  To join the group a personal meeting with one of the facilitators is required along with filling of an Application form.

Self-Help Group

An ongoing group run by survivors themselves. The meetings are open to all women who have a history of incest/childhood sexual abuse. Survivors can join the group at any time and attend meetings as and when they want. The group is formatted and has specific procedures designed to keep meetings safe and confidential. Free of charge.

Survivor Mission

We provide an opportunity for those survivors who wish to transcend their abuse experiences by making it a basis for social change and invite them to get involved with our projects. This becomes a powerful source of healing as social action allows a survivor to draw upon her energy and resourcefulness and transform the meaning of her personal tragedy.
