    Aath March, Saath March

    Dates: 8th March 2017

This International Women's Day 2017, over 300 people assembled at Rajiv Chowk in solidarity against the many forms of violence. RAHI Foundation was one of the 27 women's groups that formed the Aath March, Saath March collective.

The day began with members of women's groups across Delhi, as well students from universities in Delhi and abroad, singing songs, chanting slogans, and celebrating International Women's Day by raising their voices for freedom and unity outside Rajiv Chowk Metro Station.

An hour into the celebrations, the march began. We walked, double file, around the perimeter of Central Park on our way to Jantar Mantar, carrying signs and slogans calling for an end to violence, oppression and marginalisation, expressing solidarity with Dalit and Adivasi women, and standing with with people with disabilities and minority groups. The RAHI team, with the support of some of the assembled students, carried banners calling on people to break the silence around child sexual abuse.

We marched from Rajiv Chowk to Jantar Mantar where RAHI's team members, Aarti and Nandini, performed the song 'Mere liye kaam nahi,' for the gathered audience. This was followed by an afternoon of songs, speeches and plays calling for justice, freedom and equality - for everyone.
