Women Survivor Programs

Based on the distinctive RAHI Model of Healing, RAHI offers individual and groups therapy services designed to meet the unique needs of women survivors and their non-abusive family members. These combine eclectic psychotherapeutic approaches and experiential techniques with traditional healing methods.

The RAHI Model of Healing

Over the years RAHI has gained a deep understanding of adult women survivors of incest/CSA, the traumas and the issues faced by them, and the long-term impact of social abuse. The distinctive RAHI Model of Healing has been designed based on this understanding and an informed knowledge of the social environment. It uses individual and group therapy to facilitate the recovery process and allow survivors to move on in their lives. Established within the larger issue of social change, the RAHI Model works to transform survivor trauma through social action

    Circle of Strength Support Group

RAHI’s 12-week support group for women survivors brings them together to explore the effects of abuse on their lives and honour what they did to survive. ‘Circle of Strength’ provides 36 hours of therapeutic work to its participants and is conducted by two trained facilitators. It uses discussions, individual exercises, craft, music, massage, movement and other creative recovery tools. This group is currently offered once a year. We conduct this group also with young women survivors between the ages of 18-20, and this is designed to meet their special needs and situations such as ongoing incestuous abuse, living with the abuser, date rape, non-abusive sexual relationships outside marriage, sexual harassment from peers, alcohol and drug abuse.

    Consultation and Supervision

RAHI offers its consultation and supervision to other individual and groups working with incest survivors and other women survivors of violence. It works closely with individuals and organizations interested in starting survivor groups in other parts of the country. It is involved in conceptualizing and planning stages and offers clinical supervision and guidance for the running of the groups. RAHI also provides individual supervision to mental health practitioners and other NGOs on their incest/CSA cases.
